A Look Back at PIAC’s First Administrative Writ of Mandamus MCLE

Mandamus MCLE 1On Saturday, February 24, 2018, PIAC hosted its first MCLE event of the year.  More than 20 people, comprised of lawyers, law students, and non-lawyers alike, filled the University of San Diego School of Law classroom to learn about writs of mandamus.  Speakers Mike Aguirre and Ken Jensen delivered a fascinating blend of academic and practical insights into these court actions to ensure organizations comply with the law.  Offering perspectives both of being a practitioner using the writs in litigation and being a staff attorney reviewing these motions for the court, the speakers gave the audience unique insights into these complex actions.

Meeting around a topic so important to so many legal fields allowed a fun blending of interactions throughout the morning event.  These interactions led to some expressing interest in joining PIAC, while the event built momentum for our next MCLE on using the judicial system to combat domestic violence with guest speaker Mark Patterson, Esq. (like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, join our Meetup group, or check our MCLE page to find out details as they are announced).

With that, PIAC would like to thank everyone who attended and everyone who helped share this event others.  We’d like to thank Saam McBride-Adams for providing videography and technical support.  We thank the University of San Diego for granting us the use of their classroom and equipment.  And lastly, we thank our guest speakers Mike Aguirre and Ken Jensen for their excellent presentation.  We look forward to seeing you all next time around!
