Intimate Library Setting Perfect for PIAC’s MCLE Panel Discussion on Survivors’ Rights in Human Trafficking

On November 3rd, PIAC hosted its first panel MCLE with “Human Trafficking: Survivors’ Rights and Advocacy.”  Over twenty people gathered on a brisk Saturday afternoon at the City Heights Library Community Room.  Moderator Paul Freese, founder of the Human Trafficking Legal Network, led a diverse and knowledgeable panel through the two-hour Elimination of Bias MCLE program. Camille Mica, a victim’s rights advocate; Hon. Karen Gauff; and Karen Proseck, Supervising Attorney Children’s Legal Services of San Diego offered their unique insights throughout the afternoon.

Over bagels and croissants, the panel helped our understanding of the most susceptible populations, the methodology human traffickers use, the effects of human trafficking on the individual, how attorneys can help fight human trafficking, and far more.  The attentive audience drew inspiration from the panelists’ experiences.

We’re already looking forward to the next time we get to work with these fantastic people.
