Standing Room Only for PIAC’s 2nd Transgender Rights MCLE Event

Wednesday, October 10, PIAC provided its first repeat MCLE event with Diversity Matters: Transgender Rights.  Baja Betty’s graciously hosted us again, with recent renovations improving the sightlines for the program.  Speakers Danielle Blackhall and Vicki Estrada presented to a room that became standing room only.  As a collective, we shared laughs and tears as we learned of Vicki’s personal struggles and triumphs as a transgender woman.  We learned best practices for the workplace, for engaging with clients, and the laws to protect transgendered people from discrimination.  Over some drinks and delicious Mexican food, we were able to grow in our understanding of the transgender community.

Thank you again to Baja Betty’s, Danielle Blackhall, Vicki Estrada, and all of you who spent your Wednesday evening with us!

If you enjoyed the drinks with public interest-minded attorneys, please join us at Amplified Ale (1429 Island Ave, San Diego, CA 92101), on Thursday, November 1st starting at 5:30 p.m., for PIAC Happy Hour.

If you’re interested in earning more MCLE credit through PIAC, our next event is Saturday, November 3rd at 12:30 p.m.  A panel discussion of survivors’ rights within human trafficking will be held at City Heights Weingart Library.
